Never mind the shoe, anything goes...

I went for a seminar two weeks ago in Hotel Maya, downtown KL, for a launching of new products in the biotechnology circles. Its a wonderful event, and only about 50 of us were invited.

OK. I am not here to write a review of the product for I am not asked for... what interesting about this event is that, I went there just for the sake of having some up-to-date knowledge about the latest techniques. I have the plan of eating there too...after all, it was held in a 5 star hotel. I am sure the food will be good. I don't have photo of the dinner, sorry...

I went there well prepared, with a notebook to jot down notes and new findings. All of were dressed up for the event too. All of us were in formal attire for the event.

yes, I took this pics with my phone camera. I don't have my camera with me...

Hweh Huih too dress up nicely. Yes, maybe you have seen her, she works part time as promoter for a lot of make-up products.

Such a nice hotel, we can't help but to take more pics.

We (or maybe just her :) )can't help but took a few pictures around the hotel.

After the event, which was around 8pm, we decided to walk over to KLCC. It's still early, and we tought of taking the opportunity to hang around in KLCC. Yes, we seldom comes to this part to town since we stay so far away. Hello....Kajang is about 40km away...that is 45 mins drive or about 1 hour train ride, having to take two trains...

But half way walking towards KLCC, our beloved friend says her shoes is coming off. I wanted to turn back to the hotel to get her another pair in my car, but she says its ok. She still can DRAG it along. 2 minutes after the conversation, she decided to go bare footed, holding her shoe on her hand and walks along the pavement, with lots of padestrain walking by and heavy traffic, towards KLCC.

Check our her leg... She seems can't be bother about others walking by...raining and limping her way towards KLCC.

I think, she needs to be bafe footed to feel the 'blind man' tiles...

Check out her foot. I have known her to be a brave and daring girl...

However, when we reach KLCC, she is afraid to go in... I am like, hello... then, why do you walk all the way towards KLCC and stay outside near the KLCC philharmonic hall. If you want to admire KLCC, I think you can do it from afar... but, no, she decided to stay around the hall while I go in with another friend to Kinokuniya bookstore to look for a book... fuyoh!

Then, after I come out from KLCC 15 mins later, I realise what she is in to....

Check it out...

We cross over to the Public Bank, she began possing for pictures...

and more....

Fuyoh.. I salute you!

P/S: after all the fun of taking pics, she drag her shoe back to the hotel and to the car....

Grandparents Birthday

I went back to Penang for a break cum celebrating my grandparents birthday. It was a wonderful time I have with my family. I make my way back to Penang on late Thursday night itself, to avoid the jam and even the sun when travelling during the daytime. Little did I know, I will be caught in the rain that pours like cats and dogs all the way to Penang. After the whole day work on Thursday, driving late at night is very tiring. Nevertheless, I made it back safely! It has been long since I drive back late night. Pity my parent as the have to wait for me to arrive. All this tiring drive was quickly replace with joy spending time with my family and my little cousin!.

Anyway, my main reason to be back this time is to celebrate my grandparent birthday. We celebrate their birthday every year but this year, we celebrated it a bit earlier as two of my cousins are flying off to Australia and India for their studies. We have it at the Thong Hai Seafood Restaurant, a change this year after so many years at Bali-Bali. Sorry I dont have the picture of the food, but here is a picture of the surrouding. Nice place.

Oh, yes, and we have it during lunch time this time. We have a chinese 9 dish meals and its really filling. All the helping are BIG!

After that, we went back to my parent place for the cake cutting. I bought the Lemon Cheese Secret Recipe's cake in the morning. Normally, their cakes don't disappoint me but this time, it disappoint me "big time"! The cake is too soft and the lemon is SO sour! So, we pratically can't even try to leave the cake at room temperature for more then 10 minutes. If not, everything melted.

We had a great time with my grandparent and all other relatives. Oh, yes, my grandparent are 77 this year! And both of them are still very healthy. I thank God for that! They are still travelling places and my grandfather still wakes up at 5 and work till night. He says, he need to work to kill time. And working makes him healthy. I can't agree more...

Oh yes, my little cousin... how can I forget her? She did a 'little' performance for everybody during the lunch birthday celebration to the amusement of all. All little children loves to shake their butt, but her, she did something extra this time, with a little bit of tai chi! My grandfather laugh non stop. And at his age, seeing him laugh whole heartedly, my heart smile too! Here she is with my eldest uncle, my grandparent eldest son.

Happy Birthday Grandpa & Grandma! Wish you a great years and healthy life!

Malaysia flag: Fly it the right way

50th merdeka celebration is on and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are planning to celebrate the 50th Merdeka till next year, 3o August, 2008. Technically, this whole period, we are celebrating out nation 50th anniversary. Its not just over a day.

And for years, in and out, we are encourage to fly our national flag. You will see and be amazed by what people willing to do to flag the flag. Some truly are wonderfull show of nationalism. Some, are just simply to show-off. Period.
Throughout the last month, I have seen flags being flown in places I never imagine I can find it. And I have seen cars being design and adorne with flags in ways that are so 'ellaborated'. I am not against nationalism. If you read The Star, you will find readers submitting pics of car adorned with flags, so much so, the driver can see the road. I am sure it will block them from clear vision. You know what I mean, because, you, yourself have seen it too. People even try to have the longest flag, but that is not a Malaysia flag anymore.

I am sure when the flag fly, it will distract the driver and other road user.

this is just a piece of plastic with white and red stripes

Flags, we have the dimension of it. It has 14 stripes, of 7 red and 7 white. It has a star and a cresent, in a blue box. If, you don't see all that, its not a Malaysian flag. All of this have a meaning.

Again, this show Malaysian always kiasu, one of the Malaysian trademark. Then, you have Malaysian who are so, stingy, they can't be bother to have the flag change. It's drap there for so many years that its faded and some are thorn.

I never know Malaysian flag is painted pink

And some who don't even know how a flag should be flown. Or maybe, at least, which should be on top...

you don't fly a nation flag below the state flag.

Yet, we have Malaysian who are so amazing that they come out with wonderful and creative idea to show the world the Malaysian flag. Such as this.

Malaysia flag should be flown with the sense of proudness and patriotic, and flying high with the right purpose and dimension. like these pics below.

Maybe, now the government can start to educate the rakyat about the right way to fly the Malaysia flag.

However, here are the few rules that you can follow.

1.Never fly a flag that is so low that it touches the ground.
2.Change the flag, once its faded or thorn.
3.A national flag should be flown higher than any other flag.
4.Never fly a flag half way up a pole, unless, the nation is mourning for her leaders.
5.Never change the dimension of a flag.
6.Flags are never meant for decorative and clothing. So, don't make it into a dress.
7.Never burn a flag.
9.Flying more flag doesn't show that you are more patriotic. but you are encourage to fly as many as you can, without putting others in danger.
8.Malaysia flag, have 4 colours, red, white, blue and yellow. All signify somethings.

The Malaysian National Flag consists of fourteen red and white stripes (along the fly) of equal width, a union or canton of dark blue, a crescent and a star. The red and white stripes stand for equal status in the federation of the member states and the federal government. The union or canton of dark blue represents the unity of the peoples of Malaysia. The union contains the crescent which is the symbol of Islam, and the star, the 14 points of which symbolise the unity of the 13 states of the federation with the federal government. The yellow of the crescent and the star is the royal colour of the Rulers.

Here is the dimension for the Malaysia flag, in case you don't realise. So, please do fly the right flag, the right way!

Colours are faded so you can easily see the dimension.
