Last Saturday was a nice day for a day in the park. We drove from Hershey to Washington D.C. for a day at National Zoo.
The zoo is a part of Smithsonian Museums and Zoo, so, it’s free! We paid $22 for parking (> 4 hours) but I think it’s worth the money. To walk from Metro or bus station with stroller, bags of food and cameras is just too much.
The zoo is beautifully designed with the various enclosures scattered throughout the property. We spent 4 hours at the zoo, covering most of it.
We love the panda, but too bad, we didn’t get a chance to see the baby. The baby panda is too young to be displayed.
We also love the pachyderm a.k.a elephant community center. It’s a big enclosure which houses the elephants that includes the indoor & outdoor play areas and also the ‘jungle’.
We also love the Apes house and “think tank’. A swing course connects both building and we got a chance to see an Orang Utan swinging from one building to another!
My 23 months old toddler totally loves the place and if you are planning to visit the zoo, do go early and plan for a day there!
